So I got me some supplies to finally make sketchbooks. I figure once I can stockpile a few, Etsy store here I come.
In the meantime, the plan is to make a limited run of each different paper cover. Paper covers are gonna be made from various papers (handmade, scrapbook, or otherwise) I can get my hands on. Other covers will be made out of the traditional bookcloth, and since I have more of that, more editions of bookcloth covered books will be made.
I've also decided to give everything in "Making Handmade Books: 100+ Bindings, Structures and Forms" by Alisa J. Golden is going to be my guide for a bit. But while I'm digging into the first bits of that, I've made a couple blank sketchbooks from techniques I already know, to get me started.
A couple of simple stitch-bound sketchbooks, and a coptic-bound one are the beginnings of a very happy me. And making books is a hobby/possible money maker that I thoroughly enjoy to the fullest extent. Except for the occasional pin prick to the finger and the inherent danger of my cutting equipment (X-acto knives and other paper cutters) it's all good. See below for the latest creations....
